We live and breathe flowers at Julia Testa, so much so, that we tend to think of them personally – each bloom with a unique character and way of harmonizing with its surroundings. Because of this, making the leap from our natural, flower-filled world to the world of signs and stars is an easy one to make.
So, whether you seek to celebrate your own Zodiac sign or are simply intrigued by the language of flowers, we hope you enjoy our just-for-fun take on pairing astrological signs with JT blooms and arrangements.
Aries (March 21 - April 19)
Bright, bold, and ambitious, Aries is often the first one to dive into a challenging situation. Their innate leadership and ambitious nature make Aries the obvious choice for kicking off the spring season and also the entire zodiac wheel.
Does “Bright, bold, and first to arrive” sound like anything else you know? That’s right, a springtime favorite, the tulip, makes an easy selection for the Aries flower.
As natural-born champions, Aries and our Always a Superstar just make sense together. This arrangement features gorgeous pastels with pops of your favorite blushes, kiwi green, lavender, yellows, and blues. It includes garden flowers like delphinium, garden rose, calla or daffodils, lisianthus, hydrangea, and you guessed it…tulips.
Taurus (April 20 - May 20)
Determined, loyal, and with a love for all things sensory, Taurus has a deep regard for beauty, connection, and the myriad pleasures life has to offer. They appreciate the finer things in life and know, better than most, how to sink into the luxury of a moment.
What could be more romantic, indulgent, and lux than the rose? Roses – especially in large quantities – and Taurus are perfectly paired.
As fine as it gets, Grace Harper is aromatic, lush, and pleasing to all the senses. This arrangement blends peach garden roses, blush spray roses, white anemone or white lisianthus, peach hypericum berry, and mixed eucalyptus.
Gemini (May 21 - June 20)
Curious, adaptable, and social, Gemini is driven by an insatiable desire to learn about the world and its surroundings. They are good communicators, playful and heart, and dare we say, *adorably* erratic at times.
Often known for its innocence, we’re giving the lily a Gemini spin, for their child-like wonder and bottomless curiosity. Playfully colorful, spunkily versatile, and often alongside many other types of flowers, the lily is our (perhaps non-traditional) Gemini flower pick.
Playful, bright, and fun, Sweet Aroma is just so Gemini. This arrangement is filled with beautiful blooms of peony, cymbidium orchid, lisianthus, spray rose, fragrant lily, and calla lily.
Cancer (June 21 - July 22)
Nurturing, compassionate, and protective, Cancer is deeply attached to home and family. With trust being both incredibly important and slowly built, Cancers may take a while to open up. But, once they do, they’re among the best types of people to have in your corner.
Also known as “Queen of the Border,” delphiniums regularly stand as tall, beautiful sentinels, protecting gardens by being planted around their perimeters. And if that isn’t Cancer, we don’t know what is.
Tall, stately, with sweetness tucked inside, there’s not much our Olivia Rose and Cancer don’t have in common. This arrangement features blue delphinium, pink roses, white orchids, and light-blue hydrangea, with accents of lisianthus for garden-style texture.
Leo (July 23 - August 22)
Confident, charismatic, and generous, Leo is a natural leader with a propensity for the spotlight. Vivacious and theatrical (ahem, perhaps even a bit…dramatic??), Leos light up their surroundings and know how to celebrate their place in the world.
With their faces always pointed toward the sun, and with attention-grabbing color and height, the sunflower is the perfect pairing for any bright, bold Leo.
As eye-catching as a design can get, our Bright Beauty is a Leo of an arrangement. It dazzles with a blend of sunflowers, hydrangea, delphinium, stock, lisianthus, and seasonal wildflowers.
Virgo (August 23 - September 22)
Practical, hardworking, and dedicated, Virgo is a perfectionist at heart, always willing to improve their skills through diligent and consistent practice. With a propensity for seeing even the smallest details, there’s no one like a Virgo to help find clarity, even within life’s biggest messes.
With a neat, orderly appearance, and near-perfect looping petals, the Dahlia and Virgo is our idea of a match made in heaven.
As tidy as it is beautiful, Molly’s Party is a stunning arrangement full of dahlias, roses, orchids, and hydrangeas, with an added flair of detail in the modern lily grass loop accent.
Libra (September 23 - October 22)
Diplomatic, social, and cooperative, the Libra has an inherent appreciation for the beauty of harmony. Perpetually seeking balance and fairness, Libras are happiest when the scales of life are at a point of symmetry and equilibrium.
Balancing strong stems and soft petals, hydrangea is a perfect reflection of a Libra’s personality.
Stunningly beautiful and elegantly balanced, Mary Poppin mixes peach roses, pink roses, peach spray roses, white and green hydrangea, and pink cymbidium orchids arranged in a clear cylinder.
Scorpio (October 23 - November 21)
As passionate as they are resourceful, and as protective as they are determined, Scorpios are liable to know exactly what they want, and exactly how to get it. And when the fierce and powerful Scorpio applies their intensity to the people they love, they can be among the deepest relationships people can form.
Notoriously dubbed the King of Flowers, the Peony symbolizes both love and power. And honestly, what more could a Scorpio ask for?
In what we would classify as passion, personified, our Canary Diamond is lush with yellow, lavender, blush, and bursts of bright pink. Blooms of garden rose, Queen Anne's lace, ranunculus, peony, and lisianthus add intensity and vibrancy, making this arrangement a Scorpio dream.
Sagittarius (November 22 - December 21)
Adventurous, optimistic, and intellectual, Sagittarius thrives with freedom and the space to explore as many pursuits as possible. They’re as open-minded as they are enthusiastic about the myriad possibilities the world has to offer… if only they can find the time to try them all.
Can you give a sign that likes options just one flower? We don’t think so, so we’ll compromise with one for the summer (hydrangea) and one for the winter (poinsettia).
Blending whimsy, color, vibrancy, and freedom, Rainbow Garden is a wildly beautiful arrangement featuring flowers of all shapes, sizes, and shades – with enough variety for even a Sagittarius to love!
Capricorn (December 22 - January 19)
Ambitious, responsible, and patient, Capricorn knows that path to achieving their long-term goals is measured and consistent. They’re resilient and disciplined, making Capricorns’ ability to push through their (and life’s) obstacles something breathtakingly unique.
The gentle, delicate blooms of lace flower are a perfect match for Capricorns, who may appear reserved on the outside but have deep reservoirs of inner strength and reliability. And much like lace flower being used as an accent flower in arrangements, Capricorns are more than ready to support the people around them – making them a perfect match!
Reliably beautiful, no matter what else might be trending, Natural Beauty is a gorgeous all-white arrangement showcasing phalaenopsis orchid heads, Casablanca lilies, tulips, roses, lace flower, and garden greens.
Aquarius (January 20 - February 18)
Intellectual, independent, and open-minded, Aquarius is often found discovering new ways to make the world around them a better place. They’re unconventional and rebellious, making them inspiring leaders or drummers to their own beats.
With their artful form, unique quality, and independent nature, orchids are Aquarius’ best (floral) friend.
A design as beautiful as it is unconventional, Kiwi Lavender Sweetness showcases unique colors and composition – encompassing all there is to love about Aquarius. It features lush kiwi green hydrangea, orchids, soft-scented hyacinths, lavender roses, and green or white tulips.
Pisces (February 12 - March 20)
With equal parts compassion and selflessness, intuition, and imagination, Pisces is the most empathetic of all the zodiac signs. Their near psychic ability to feel the joys and pains and hopes and fears of the people around them makes Pisces at the center of many of life’s deepest relationships.
Symbolizing many things to many different groups of people, including spirituality, grace, and emotion, Snapdragons seem to absorb the meaning from the people beholding them – which fits the Pisces we know all too well.
Positively exuding gentle beauty, In Your Arms is sure to make anyone receiving it smile. This arrangement is lush with pink anthurium, tulips, and snapdragon, with stunning orchid accents.
These associations between Zodiac signs and flowers are not definitive rules, but are a playful interpretation rooted in symbolism and exploration. Your personal preferences and experiences may differ (we're all just living our unique lives over here), but the beauty lies in the opportunity to contemplate the qualities that each flower and arrangement embodies, and how they may resonate with your life.
